Toys & Co. -December Store of the Month

Toys & Co. -December Store of the Month

Blue Orange Games is lucky to partner with a fantastic bunch of retailers who are passionate about their businesses and supportive of our games. We want to do more to recognize the stores and individuals that make our mission possible. That’s how our monthly spotlight on an outstanding Blue Orange Games retailer came about!

toys&cologo

We are pleased to announce that Toys & Co. in Greensboro, NC is our Store of the Month for December! Renaud, from our sales team, nominated this store because of their dedication to their local community and their passion for creating fun times with their customers.

We all have a bit of kid in us, some more than others, but where do we go when we need to unwind and be a giant kid? Well a toy store of course! Stepping into a toy store is more than buying the toy you want, there is an overall experience that we all wish for that Toys & Co. definitely provides.

For over 40 years, Toys & Co. has made customers the main priority of their business. Many believe that this is the sole reason that they have had many years of success—having cool toys doesn’t hurt either!

When walking into Toys & Co. your eyes will light up just by seeing the 44 thousand items that surround you. Some may be in heaven, but some may be a bit lost when searching for that one gift. Don’t you worry because Toys & Co. will not let you tackle this adventure alone. Staff members are trained and knowledgeable on every game that is inside their store. Once you enter those doors, a staff member will be happy to assist you and guide you to that perfect purchase.

Great customer service plays a huge role in why we return or remember a certain store or experience, but customer satisfaction is brought to a new level at Toys & Co. Almost all of their toys have demos that the staff members are very excited to explain and share with their customers. Even if there is not a demo available, more likely than not, Toys & Co. will be happy to open the game or toy and share that with you from their own shelves.

Of course we all know that sometimes getting to the physical store is a challenge, but Toys & Co. offers this experience online as well. You can visit their website to order toys or games right there. The site is a big helper just like the in store staff members. It is well organized and can point you in the direction of purchases for the right age, by award, by category, and so on! They even have a list of their top 100 games for the Holiday season to help guide buyers to the perfect gift.

Whether you are shopping in store or online and looking for this years hottest silly putty or for the original Spot it!, Toys & Co. will help you find the right gift in no time!

The whole team at Blue Orange Games would like to thank the Toys & Co. team for believing in our games and for creating rewarding, educational experiences for their community. Congrats!

Family Game Night

Family Game Night

familygamenight

The sun is setting way too early, the clouds are rolling in with a fall chill, and the holidays are right around the corner. This means that there may be much more time that your family is beginning to spend indoors and with each other.

SpotitParty_Family_LoRes

So…how do you draw those little eyes away from the TV and IPad? Bring out the good ol’ board games and gather around for a family game night!

Blue Orange would like to suggest some game night tips and ideas to make this as close to a family success as possible.

[typography font=”Cardo” size=”20″ size_format=”px” color=”#091599″]Keep it light:[/typography]

Don’t stress about the rules! Yes Yes, structure is important, but if someone comes up with a new way of playing, try it out! This will help to keep everyone interested and spark creativity. After all, laughing together is what we are trying to achieve!

[typography font=”Cardo” size=”20″ size_format=”px” color=”#091599″]NomNoms:[/typography]

Nothing brings people together better than food, but then when food and games are mixed together– a good time is always guaranteed. What types of food are good for a game night? Keep the messiness at minimum and the bites small!

Veggies and dip and meat, cheese, and crackers trays are always a good idea to begin with. Foods like pepperoni rolls, sliders, and artichoke bread bowl dips are easy to prepare, easy to eat in small bites, and better yet—easy to clean up!

familygameniight

[Head over to A Mom’s Take to read about her Food & Family Game Night Ideas!]

My personal life motto—you are never too full for dessert! Make dessert easy– but do something out of the ordinary! This will help to make game night even more memorable. Maybe add some chocolate goodies to the popcorn or make root beer floats!

[typography font=”Cardo” size=”20″ size_format=”px” color=”#091599″]Have Fun:[/typography]

Having fun rules for the winner and loser can help to keep your game night competitive, but in a light way! Perhaps the winner is dubbed the game night Queen or King for the week, maybe they are out of dish washing duties for the night, or get to pick the next movie for family movie night.

[typography font=”Cardo” size=”20″ size_format=”px” color=”#091599″]Know Your Crowd:[/typography]

You probably have a good grasp on your family and friends that may be attending your game night. Some may prefer a good sit down strategy game, such as Battle Sheep, while others may enjoy a shorter high speed game, such as Spot it!.

  Battlesheep_Player_flat_LoRes Niya_Pkg_Left_Flat_LowRes Fastrack_Player_LowRes

Keep in mind that having a sit down game to play does not make your event more or less of a game night. Game night can consist of a speedy game of Fastrack while the lasagna is cooking or a sit down game of Aztack.

[typography font=”Cardo” size=”20″ size_format=”px” color=”#091599″]Team Up:[/typography]

Even though a game may suggest that it is for two players, there is nothing wrong with teaming up! Maybe Mom and daughter play against Dad and son in a game of NIYA and then switch partners.

Game night is a great way to gather your family around the table in an economically friendly way. But always remember why you are having family game night, while winning is fun; the goal is to create stronger family bonds with lots of laughs.

Labyrinth- November Store of the Month

Labyrinth- November Store of the Month

Blue Orange Games is lucky to partner with a fantastic bunch of retailers who are passionate about their businesses and supportive of our games. We want to do more to recognize the stores and individuals that make our mission possible. That’s how our monthly spotlight on an outstanding Blue Orange Games retailer came about!labyrinth

We are pleased to announce that Labyrinth Games and Puzzles in Washington, D.C. is our Store of the Month for November! Xavier and Renaud, from our sales team, nominated this store because of their dedication to their local community and their passion for creating fun times with their customers.

We have all experienced that ‘last minute I need a gift moment’ once or maybe many times in our lives. It seems when that rush and panic sets in, there is not a fitting gift anywhere on the shelf, so usually we grab any gift and get on our way. However,  Kathleen Donahue, owner of Labyrinth Games and Puzzles, was not satisfied with this. After searching and searching for a birthday gift for her son, Kathleen had the bright idea to open up a store of her own.

balloons

Labyrinth is not just any game store, as you can tell by the sophisticated name. It is a store that connects the community with one another through not just any game, but brainy games. While the store is tailored to many adult likes, there are also a huge selection for kids ages 1 to 100. If you want to work your brain and have fun, I would say Labyrinth is the place for you.

Kathleen takes pride in her D.C. community. Her store is located on Capitol Hill where you get a small town feel, but are surrounded by a big city. The small town feel could be attributed to Kathleen herself. She works to raise money to donate games to local schools and hosts game nights almost every night of the week. Some of these game nights are geared towards teenagers, while others are geared towards adults! Game nights can include magic shows, role play, and sometimes a Blue Orange game night.

The happiness of Kathleen’s customers is why she is in the retail business, but the buying power is not always in her hands. She will host game nights with vendors, such as Blue Orange Games, and have the customers act as buyers. Sometimes these ‘step-in’ buyers are teenagers and sometimes they are adults. Whatever games they think will sell and be enjoyed by the D.C. crowd, Kathleen is happy to purchase. This tactic may seem crazy to some business folk, but to Kathleen it makes sense, this is the best way to insure that the customers receive the games that they want.

Whether you are a Senator or just a teenager looking for an awesome brainy toy, Labyrinth is the place for you. You will find only games that challenge your brain, but will also put a smile on your face!

The whole team at Blue Orange Games would like to thank Labyrinth’s team for believing in our games and for creating rewarding, educational experiences for their community. Congrats!
